Hiking 101

I survived my first hike yesterday!
We originally set out to go fishing at the Salt River, but when the exit to the 202 was closed we decided to head to Canyon Lake outside of Apache Junction.

It is a nice drive to Canyon lake very nice views as well as scary hill roads and it is only 20 minutes from AJ. Once we go to Canyon Lake we drove right past it to Apache lake. Which is a very scary drive and unpaved YUCK! We did drop some poles in the water but it was so windy we couldn't really fish, so we decided to head back.

On our way back I decided we should stop at the Lost Duchman state park at the foot of the Superstition Mountains. We arrived at the park paid our 5 dollars and decided we would follow one of their trails for a while. Here is a picture that I took from the parking lot. See that boulder way up there. We climbed all the way to it.

Here is a picture we took when we got to the boulder and turned to face the way we had come. See those white specs in the distant...that is the parking lot!! It took us 2 hours to get up there,I thought I was gonna die there at the very end. It was a really steep grade and it was like climbing stairs...I can't believe we did it!

Here are some pictures I took of Luke and Tim, Bunny, and Steve, and of course the mountain.

Christmas 2008

Christmas 2008 has to be one of the best Christmas's we have ever had.
I woke up early to lay on the couch to wait for the kids to wake up.
Here is a picture of our tree Christmas morning with the kids Santa Gift under it.
Tim got a new Razor Scooter and Luke got a Digital Camera. (its under his stocking)

I love being up early so I can see the boy's faces when they see the tree and the present underneath. The barely wake up and come stumbling down the hall and I love the facial expressions.

Then the looks of joy when they see their presents!

On Christmas Eve we celebrated with Steve's Family at his sister Lori's house. As usual we all had a terrific time! I do love my inlaws and I am soo lucky I know alot of crazy inlaws lol.
Here are some of my favorite pictures

left to right (Steve's older bro Al, his younger sis Lori, his Dad Frank, and his mom Sue, then Steve on far right.)

then on Christmas Day we celebrated with my family, My Mom and Dad came over and my Mom made us Red Chili, Beans, and tamales, YUM!!! It was so delicious!! We also had baked yummies like fudge, Pecan Pie, sugar cookies and pecan balls.

Here are some pics and videos of Christmas Day

Luke is 15 today!

Age: 2days
Brenden Luke Huffine
born on December 22 at 11:55pm I was in labor for 34 hours and 55 minutes.
Weighed 6lbs 8ozs and you were 18 1/4 inches long. You were 3 weeks early.
The first thing I said when they laid you beside my head so I could see you was, "Oh he's beautiful!" and it was the truth.

Here you are at less than a week old laying beside the giant Christmas Stocking that you were sent home with because you were born 3 days before Christmas. We got out of the hospital on Christmas day.
Here is your first photos with Mom and Dad....Dad is doing ok with the first holding of the baby...me...well as you can see from your cricked neck..I needed some help hehhehe.
The first night you were home, I slept with a big flashlight on with the lamp covered so I could look at you about a thousand times that night. I was terrified of losing you or that something would happen, I looked at you every time you made any sort of noise.

Here you are at 3month I believe. Cute little bugger!

This is at age 1 I believe, Love your hair!

You were such a good baby, Never fussed, always sweet, You were VERY colicky for the first 3 months though. Lots of crying and fussing until we discovered mylicon for your upset tummy and you were as good as gold after that :)
You grew up way to quickly
Here you are at your Christmas play in kindergarten.

And here you are all grown up and 15!
I guess I figured out how to hold you cuz your neck is no longer crooked!
I think you turned out pretty great..and I am very proud to call you my son.

Your brother Timothy wanted to make you a special breakfast for your day so here it is.
1 egg over easy,
1 piece peanut butter toast
Cinnamon apples
1 Happy Birthday Cookie
Bowl of rice crispies *not shown*
